Whakatipu Youth Trust (WYT) is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of all young people aged 10- 24 years and their families/whānau. This privacy statement explains how we collect, use and protect any information you provide to us through our website.

This statement applies to all WYT Staff. Staff include employees, children’s workers, volunteers, contractors, consultants, students and trustees who have contact with children and young people or have oversight of services provided to children and young people.

WYT offers a range of services to young people aged 10-24 years. We collect a range of personal information from you in order to:

  • provide safe and effective support, understand your needs and support you and your whānau in the best possible way.

You always have the right not to provide us with your personal information; however some services may not be available to you if you choose not to.

We collect personal information from you, including information about your:

  • name and personal contact details
  • Date of birth
  • Ethnicity
  • attendance at any of our programmes and/or activities
  • relevant information about your health, disability and support needs
  • interactions with us, verbal, written, electronic and visual
  • billing or purchase information
  1. Use of personal information

Besides our staff, we collect and share statistical and demographic information with:

  • contract providers in order to produce reports based on contractual obligations, and/or
  • approved external agencies in order to provide further appropriate support with your consent

We keep your information safe by storing it securely in a password protected digital system and only allowing authorised WYT staff access.

Besides our staff, we share this information when:

  • information sharing is required or justified
  •  in order to ensure the safety, health or wellbeing of a young person or others
  • We are required to share information by law or a court
